SteadyAge helps families choose the safety technology that lets older adults keep living independently at home, without spending days decoding sales pitches.
Medical alert companies make comparison hard on purpose: prices hide behind “call for a quote” buttons, fall detection is often a paid add-on, and contract terms are buried in fine print. Most families are making this decision quickly, often after a scare. We focus on the products families actually shop for (medical alert systems, fall detection devices, medical alert smartwatches, senior-friendly phones, GPS trackers and aging-in-place home safety) and on what matters most: what it really costs each month, whether it works away from home, and what it costs to cancel.
How we evaluate products
- Real pricing. We check each company’s current pricing, equipment and activation fees, note the date we checked, and call out the price you’ll pay after any introductory offer ends.
- Primary sources. Every guide is built from each company’s own pricing pages, terms of service and product documentation, so you’re not getting recycled claims from other review sites.
- The fine print. We read the contract, cancellation and return terms so you know what it costs to walk away.
- Honest downsides. Every recommendation includes who it’s not right for.
- Research, not hands-on testing. Our guides are based on research into pricing, plans and published documentation. We don’t claim to have personally tested every product, and we encourage you to use free trials and return windows before you commit.
- Kept current. Plans and prices change often, so we review and update our guides regularly and show the date each one was last updated.
How we make money

Meet the founder
Hi, I’m Brad.
Founder, Pickwell Media
I founded Pickwell Media and run SteadyAge. I’ve spent 25 years as a construction project manager, where the job comes down to comparing vendors, reading the fine print on contracts and keeping a budget honest.
SteadyAge applies that same habit to safety tech for older adults: we check every price at the source, call out the activation fees and cancellation terms, and say plainly who each option is not right for. It’s the research I’d want done before choosing a system for someone in my own family.
SteadyAge is published by Pickwell Media, an independent publisher of buyer’s guides. Spotted something out of date, or want us to compare a product we haven’t covered? Email [email protected] or use our contact page.
SteadyAge provides general product information, not medical advice. In an emergency, call 911. See our Medical Disclaimer.
